Description
The HRIA project aims to establish a national hub of excellence in Artificial Intelligence by bringing together top Romanian universities, research institutes, and innovative SMEs. Its general objective is to build a coordinated national ecosystem for AI research, expand scientific production, modernize infrastructure, and accelerate technology transfer to industry and society. The project develops advanced AI laboratories, high-performance computing capabilities, and collaborative programs that increase Romania's competitiveness in the European Research Area.
Ecosystem Development
Creation of a unified national AI ecosystem by integrating leading universities, research centers, and innovative SMEs to support collaboration, research excellence, and strategic coordination.
Infrastructure Modernization
Establishment of nine advanced AI laboratories and deployment of high-performance computing, storage, sensing, and prototyping infrastructure for large-scale research and experimentation.
Optimization & Innovation
Development of technology transfer mechanisms, collaboration with industry partners, and optimization of processes that support the adoption of AI technologies in the economy and public sector.
Research & Prototyping
Implementation of research programs in key AI areas—including machine learning, robotics, natural language processing, autonomous systems, healthcare AI, and smart cities—together with pilot projects for real-world validation.
Results & Impact
Strengthening Romania's AI research capabilities, producing advanced AI technologies, increasing European integration, and positioning HRIA as the main national center of excellence for Artificial Intelligence.
